HAWTHORN has made a late change for Sunday's clash with Greater Western Sydney, bringing in young winger Harry Morrison for premiership star Isaac Smith.

Smith left the ground in the last quarter of last week's loss to Melbourne with a foot injury and the Hawks elected not to risk him.

The 30-year-old is the fifth player to come out of the side, following Jarryd Roughead's high-profile omission, on top of Chad Wingard (hamstring) and Kaiden Brand and Dan Howe (dropped).

James Frawley, Jon Ceglar, James Cousins and Jack Scrimshaw join Morrison as inclusions, while the Giants are unchanged.

Hawthorn football boss Graham Wright said club officials opted to be cautious with Smith's injury.

"Isaac was managed throughout the week and was able to get through main training," Wright said.

"But we've agreed he wasn't quite 100 per cent, so we have decided not to take the risk."
