THE AFL congratulates Sam Graham after he was today appointed as CEO of the Brisbane Lions FC.
Mr Graham will step into the role leading the Lions, after the announcement today that Greg Swann will join the AFL as a senior member of the executive team, having led the Brisbane Lions since 2014.
AFL Chief Executive Andrew Dillon said Mr Graham had been a talented leader within the AFL industry, having previously been a member of the AFL Executive Team as EGM Strategy, Chief Executive of AFL NSW/ACT, and more recently the General Manager Taskforce and Industry Engagement, Tasmania, playing a key role in the establishment of the 19th license in Tasmania.
AFL CEO Andrew Dillon said Mr Graham had played a key role in the work behind the new stadium for football in Queensland after the Olympics, at Victoria Park, and had driven strong off-field growth for the club.
"The Lions have been our flagship club in Queensland for nearly four decades and, along with the Gold Coast Suns, have provided inspiration and aspiration for the record growth at junior participation levels.
"Brisbane has also been one of our competition on-field powers for several years now, as they continue to perform strongly this year, and Sam will be an excellent leader for the team at the Lions, and we wish him all the best."
