THE AFL in collaboration with Riot Games is pleased to announce tickets are now on sale for the League of Legends: League of Origin tournament.

The premier stadium event will mark the first ever top-level League of Legends: League of Origin tournament to be held at Melbourne Park’s Margaret Court Arena on November 17.

Teams will come together from New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and New Zealand for the second annual State of Origin clash, giving fans the chance to support their states.

The short, intense tournament will see the very best League of Legends players in an all-star style event with players stepping outside their regular season teams to play for their home state.

Star League of Legends players will compete for their states in a series of playoffs broadcast from the Riot Studios on the 9th, 10th and 11th of November to decide who plays off in a best of five style Grand Final battle in front of a live audience of 4,000 people at Margaret Court Arena in the League of Origin.

AFL General Manager – Growth, Digital and Audiences Darren Birch said the AFL is eager to bring AFL and League of Legend fans together in support of their home states.

"The AFL is excited to provide League of Legends fans the chance to see their favourite players live in action. Margaret Court Arena is a prime location to bring together fans from across the nation and New Zealand for the League of Origin Grand Final,” Mr Birch said.

"With a rich history of sporting rivalry, we are hoping to connect Australian and New Zealand fans in a new environment where players and fans can interact with the enhanced digital experience that is the League of Legends: League of Origin Grand Final.

"Esports is a growing part of our industry and we are delighted to host the event at Melbourne Park this year."

Riot Games Country Manager Dan Ringland said he was keen to see Melbourne fans at the event.

"We are excited to be taking League of Legends: League of Origin to Melbourne in what will be the second stadium event there this year after a fantastic OPL Grand Final at Melbourne Park," said Mr Ringland.

"Given their victory in the inaugural League of Origin title last year, the team from Victoria will no doubt be keen to show NSW, Queensland and New Zealand that they are still the strongest Esports state in the region."
