NORTH Melbourne fans have given coach Brad Scott resounding support after a season that defied the doomsayers.

Giving their verdict on the Roos in an AFL.com.au survey, 90 per cent of supporters backed Scott's efforts in guiding their team to ninth, when many pundits had predicted a wooden spoon.

Classy midfielder Shaun Higgins shook off many injury-plagued seasons to earn his maiden All Australian blazer and was recognised by 67 per cent of fans as the club's player of the season.

Missing finals by just four points (and percentage) is rarely marked as a tick by fans, but the promise shown by young Roo Paul Ahern and the rejuvenation of Majak Daw and Jed Anderson saw North Melbourne's season rated 7.4 out of 10, comfortably the highest rating for any team to miss the finals.
