GREATER Western Sydney is breathing a sigh of relief after ruckman Rory Lobb was cleared of serious injury.

Lobb was taken to hospital in an ambulance on Saturday following a knock to the ribs in the second quarter of the Giants' big win over Gold Coast.

"Rory has been cleared of major damage and has improved over the past 12 hours," GWS head of athletic performance David Joyce said on Sunday.

"We’ll assess him over the next 48 hours to see how he pulls up and this will help guide his training load when the playing group returns to the club later this week."

Lobb missed four games earlier this season with a knee injury.

The news comes as welcome relief for the Giants, who were without stars Stephen Coniglio (concussion), Tom Scully (ankle), Brett Deledio (calf) and Toby Greene (foot).

Lobb's teammate Daniel Lloyd wasn't as fortunate with the 26-year-old facing a stint on the sidelines with a medial collateral ligament (MCL) injury to his left knee.

Lloyd hurt his knee in a contest late in the second quarter and was unable to finish out the match.

"Daniel will miss at least a few weeks. Again, we'll wait and see how he pulls up in the coming days before we can put an accurate timeline on his return," Joyce said.

The Giants have the bye in round 13, before taking on the Lions at the Gabba.
