THE AFL will exclusively join forces with Australia’s #1 Sports and entertainment creator and podcaster Dan Gorringe aka DanDoesFooty in a league first initiative, creating the Ultimate Footy Watchalong for the Preliminary Final clash between Collingwood and Brisbane this Saturday night.
In a new initiative for the league which taps into the ever increasing trend of second screen viewing of live sports by Gen Z audiences, the AFL and DanDoesFooty will unite to produce a must-see and first of its kind live feed streamed on the AFL YouTube channel and the AFL Live App from 4.30pm-8.30pm with Dan watching and reacting to all the action on Channel 7, 7Plus, Kayo and FoxFooty.
With a combined audience of over three million followers across Instagram and TikTok, the AFL and DanDoesFooty ultimate live footy watch will engage a young and socially savvy audience that is hungry to consume the game in different ways.
DanDoesFooty, created by former player Dan Gorringe is the #1 Sports Podcast and Sports Creator Channel in ANZ, and Dan will enlist some of his favourite footy creators, AFL and AFLW players and footy-loving celebs to provide the ultimate second screen experience to millions of AFL fans in one of the games of the year.
AFL Executive General Manager Customer and Commercial Bec Haagsma said the league was thrilled to team up with DanDoesFooty for this new initiative.
“The AFL is excited to present a new and innovative product to a younger and socially engaged audience for the highly anticipated Prelim Final on Saturday,” Haagsma said.
“The Ultimate Footy WatchAlong is all about providing an experience that is in tune with younger audience consumption habits, encouraging the connection between the game and the ever increasing online audience.
“We are excited to find a new way to promote our broadcast partners Fox Footy and Channel 7, who will be present within and supporting the live stream.
“DanDoesFooty is one of the biggest sports creators in the country and we are thrilled to be teaming up with Dan to bring this new experience to life.”
DanDoesFooty creator Dan Gorringe said:
"We’re excited to be the first to partner with the AFL in this way and to bring the idea to life in true DDF fashion. This is just the beginning of modernising how fans experience footy—especially for younger generations who want to immerse themselves in the game differently, and we intend to be the ones leading that shift,” Gorringe said.
“Working with the AFL to create something truly entertaining for one of the biggest matchups of the season has been an incredible opportunity, and we can’t wait to share it with fans this Saturday."
The Ultimate Footy Watchalong will be available to stream on YouTube and via the AFL Live App from 4.30pm AEST this Saturday 20 September as Collingwood take on Brisbane in the must watch Preliminary Final.
