ADELAIDE midfielder Brad Crouch has injured his hamstring for a third time, but the Crows insist he will be available for the JLT Community Series.

Crouch trained for about an hour with the club's rehab group at its open training session at Football Park on Wednesday.

The 23-year-old is expected to be on limited duties for the next fortnight.

Crouch felt pain in his hamstring during a kicking drill when the team returned to training after the Christmas break.

He missed three games last season with a hamstring injury and was sidelined for the entire 2015 campaign with a persistent foot complaint.

Crouch is in the first year of a four-year contract extension with the Crows until the end of 2020.

Crows defender Daniel Talia told reporters Crouch's injury wasn't too serious.

"He's fine, I think he had a little setback a couple of weeks ago now," Talia said.

"Brad's been tearing up the track and he's still getting to know his body, and probably with his history they're a bit more careful with him.

"Within the next week he'll be back into full training and doing everything.

"The JLT (Community Series) starts in about a month, so he will be ready to go."

Veteran midfielder Scott Thompson is also being eased through after picking up a shoulder injury.

The 33-year-old, who is entering his 17th AFL season, completed running drills away from the main group.

"He's got a sore shoulder, but he's a veteran, he's got a lighter load through the pre-season anyway," Talia said.

"He's done so many (pre-seasons) that he probably doesn't need as many (training sessions) as the young guys.

"He'll be fine come the JLT (Community Series) as well."

Forwards Josh Jenkins (ankle) and Tom Lynch (knee) didn't complete the entire session, but they returned to full training on Monday.

Key position prospect Elliott Himmelberg finished training early with an apparent re-occurrence of a leg injury.

Crows medical staff attended to Himmelberg before he attempted some light running, but he then left the track.
