ADELAIDE captain Taylor Walker is hopeful of being right for his side's round two clash with Hawthorn at the MCG on Saturday.

The key forward was a late scratching from the Crows' team that hammered Greater Western Sydney by 56 points at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.

Walker injured his hamstring in the Crows' final game of the JLT Community Series against the Brisbane Lions.

He trained last week and was named in the side to play the Giants, but pulled up sore and was given another week to recover.

"(I was) pretty close to playing, but made a decision not to play," Walker told the club's website on Monday.

"Just wasn't 100 per cent so we didn't want to run the risk of doing it again, so we pulled out.

"Fingers crossed I'll play round two."

Crows coach Don Pyke expects Walker "should be fine" to face the Hawks after he was close to taking his place in the side for the season opener.
