Docklands Stadium welcomes the news from Men's Rugby World Cup 2027 that it will be one of eight stadiums to host matches at the upcoming tournament across seven Australian cities.

Fans can expect a world class stadium and event experience when Men's Rugby World Cup 2027 comes to Melbourne, with the award-winning stadium to host six pool matches and two round of 16 encounters.

Scott Fitzgerald, General Manager – Marvel Stadium, welcomed the announcement and the return of the tournament to the venue, having hosted seven matches the last time the Rugby World Cup was in Australia in 2003.

"The announcement of our venue as one of eight to host games at the upcoming Men's Rugby World Cup in 2027 is very exciting and further showcases our evolution in becoming a 365-day a year destination for fans and patrons.

"From elite sport to concerts and everything in between, 2026 is shaping up to be another busy and successful year for the venue, which already has a suite of events in the calendar with more to be announced in the first quarter of the year."

The hosting of games at the venue further showcases the stadium’s reputation as a world-class venue which was recognised across the globe, claiming an array of international awards in 2025. 

Docklands Stadium is set to welcome Grammy Award winning artist and global superstar Ed Sheeran in February before the 2026 Toyota AFL Premiership Season begins in March, with the Western Bulldogs to take on the GWS Giants in the first AFL game at the venue for 2026 on Saturday March 14. 

The next major milestone for RWC 2027 will be the announcement of the match schedule and ticket prices on Tuesday, 3 February 2026. 

Fans will then have an opportunity to secure tickets during an exclusive two-week presale starting on 18 February 2026 at 12:00 AEDT. Fans must create a Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027 ticketing account at tickets.rugbyworldcup.com before 12.00 AEDT on Tuesday, 17 February 2026 to be eligible to enter the presale.
