THERE'S a certain irony that when the bye rounds come along, and up to a third of the competition is putting its feet up, AFL Fantasy coaches must work their fingers to the bone crunching the numbers to ensure they use their three, count 'em, three trades wisely.

It's a lot of pressure, not helped by social media posts of players who have disappointed you this year swanning around on holiday racking up a decent tan rather than Fantasy points.

The Giants' bye remains two weeks away so it's still well worth plucking some Fantasy talent from their injury-depleted list.

Players like Jeremy Cameron (FWD, $509,000) and Heath Shaw (DEF, $487,000) are cheap for premium non-midfielders.

High-scoring mids are a dime a dozen - it's picking forwards and defenders with the potential to score a regular 200 points between them that will get you the Fantasy league wins.

Shaw, in particular, has his team's best average (107) against this week's opponent, Essendon.

Toby Greene (FWD, $509,000) is another great option for your forward line. He's scored under 80 just twice from eight games this year and faces the Bombers and Carlton over the next two weeks with projected scores of 95 and 92.

The Giants have their bye in round 13 before a trip to the Gabba to face current wooden spoon favourites the Lions, where they can expect a feast of Fantasy points.

Leon Cameron has also indicated that Dawson Simpson (RUC, $182,000) is likely to get a call-up to help Shane Mumford at some point in coming weeks, or just to give Mummy a week off.

Once their bye is done, having a squad replete with scorers from the premiership favourites will do your Fantasy health the world of good.

Pearce Hanley, Gold Coast (MID, $452,000): -$40,000
Stephen Hill, Fremantle (MID, $479,000): -$28,000
Josh Kennedy, West Coast (FWD, $465,000): -$27,000
Tom Lynch, Gold Coast (FWD, $465,000): -$27,000

Get 'em in

James Cousins, Hawthorn (MID, $167,000): Impressed at the SCG on debut and Clarko will surely back him in for another week. Has a breakeven of 2.

Patrick Dangerfield, Geelong (MID, $631,000): Underpriced for his potential to deliver a 150+, you may not get a better chance to bring the champ into your squad.

Matt Crouch, Adelaide (MID, $581,000): Only two scores under 90 this year and he's played every game. Safest sub-$600,000 option out there.

Bye for now

Josh Kennedy, West Coast (FWD, $465,000): A calf strain puts paid to the next three weeks for the Eagles spearhead. A swap for Paddy Ryder is an option.

Pearce Hanley, Gold Coast (MID, $452,000): The Irishman could come back into the frame in a few weeks when his price has dropped further. Sit tight.

Shannon Hurn, West Coast (DEF, $442,000): Scores poorly at this week's venue, Metricon Stadium, and his bye is the following weekend.
