FREMANTLE recruit Harley Bennell kicked four goals in an impressive performance for Peel Thunder in the WAFL on Saturday.
Bennell had 23 disposals and was named among the best players as Dockers coach Ross Lyon watched on.
The Dockers sent picks 16 and 35 in last year's draft to Gold Coast for Bennell and pick No. 22.
Gold Coast announced it would trade Bennell last September after an incident where he allegedly slapped a cigarette out of a bouncer's mouth.
Bennell settled the resulting public nuisance charge out of court.
Earlier in 2015, Bennell was fined and given a suspended three-match ban after photos were published in newspapers showing the midfielder appearing to use illicit drugs.
The photos were taken in 2013.
The 23-year-old played for Fremantle the first time in its final pre-season game against Geelong.
He has struggled to train after dealing with a calf injury.
Ruckman Zac Clarke also played well for Peel and kicked two goals.
The 25-year-old is in line to play in round one after Aaron Sandilands was suspended for one match in Fremantle's opening NAB Challenge game against Richmond for rough conduct.
The Dockers kick off their home and away season against the Western Bulldogs next Sunday at Etihad Stadium.
Clancee Pearce (32 disposals), Matt de Boer (26) and Connor Blakely (25) all had plenty of the ball in Peel's eight-point loss to Subiaco, while Lachie Weller had 21 disposals and kicked two goals.
