Box Hill Hawks made it back-to-back wins, breaking away after half time to defeat Geelong by 22 points at Deakin University. Having enjoyed a great recent record against the Cats, booting 14 goals in each of their past three outings, the Hawks made a strong start to lead by 16 points during the first quarter. However, the Cats worked their way back into the game to trail by just seven points at the main break.  But a four-goal to nil third term allowed Box Hill to run away with the four points, never being threatened thereafter. A season-high 24 disposals and eight tackles from Kayley Kavanagh went a long way to helping the Hawks create that separation while Tess Cattle also impressed with 23 touches and 10 tackles and Annabelle Embelton played a key role with three goals and 18 touches. Leading the way for the Cats was Lucy Marescuk (21 disposals, eight tackles and four clearances).

DAREBIN                                                        2.2        3.2        4.3              4.4 (28)

North Melbourne Werribee put together another solid second half display to remain unbeaten in 2026, defeating Darebin by 34 points at Arden Street Oval. The Falcons took it up to the reigning premiers in the first half, booting the first two goals and trailing by only five points at the main break. The home side’s inaccuracy in front of goal early in the piece was an issue again, having also haunted them in the opening round. But in similar fashion to the past fortnight, the Roos would turn it around in the second half, kicking five goals to one, to ensure victory. Alana Barba had yet another standout performance for North Melbourne Werribee both in the middle with 23 disposals and six clearances, as well as inside 50 with two goals. It’s the second time this season she’s had 20+ disposals and two goals in a game. Abbey Favell (24 touches) and Renee Tierney (three goals) were also influential, whilst Alyssa Mifsud was terrific for Darebin, amassing 21 disposals while having five clearances.

The Zebras led for nearly three and a half quarters and held an advantage as great as 13 points at the seven-minute mark of the third quarter, where they looked to be in control of the match.
