This weekend: Norwood v Adelaide at Norwood Oval, Friday August 14, 7.40pm ACST

Adelaide went down to top-of-the-table Norwood by 54 points on Friday night.

Youngster Sid Draper found plenty of the ball, finishing with 20 disposals, six clearances, six tackles and a goal, while Charlie Edwards was equally as busy with 26 disposals, seven clearances and five tackles.

After being omitted from the senior side to face Fremantle, ruck Reilly O'Brien dominated with 38 hitouts and six score involvements, while fellow omissions Archie Ludowyke had one goal from his nine touches and Oscar Ryan finished with 15 disposals.

Lachlan Sholl was prolific, gathering 31 disposals and finishing with seven marks in a strong outing.

Defender Nick Murray collected 18 disposals and five marks, first-year forward Mitchell Marsh had 15 disposals and six marks, and Tyler Welsh kicked a goal from his 10 touches.

Finnbar Maley didn't kick a goal himself but contributed four score involvements and four tackles from his nine touches, while rookie forward Indy Cotton (eight disposals) and Mitchell Hinge (10 disposals, four marks) were also in action.

Fourteen individual goalkickers contributed to Brisbane's 103-point smashing of Gold Coast on Saturday.

Will McLachlan was the standout up forward, booting four goals from 11 touches and seven marks, while James Tunstill produced a dominant midfield performance with 32 disposals, nine tackles, nine clearances and two goals.

Bruce Reville was equally influential through the middle with 33 disposals and six clearances, and Keidean Coleman continued his strong form with 27 disposals, eight marks and a goal.

Cody Curtin (13 disposals, eight tackles), Tai Hayes (20, nine marks) and Ben Murphy (15, five marks) each added two goals.

Darragh Joyce (17 disposals, eight marks), Shadeau Brain (19 disposals, eight marks) and Tom Doedee (14 disposals, eight marks) were all solid in defence.

Sam Marshall gathered 21 disposals and four clearances, while Koby Evans (15 touches, one goal), Luke Lloyd (14, one goal), Luke Beecken (16, six marks) and Zane Zakostelsky (10 disposals) also made solid contributions in the win.

Carlton has secured its VFL finals spot with a 31-point win over Footscray at Mission Whitten Oval on Sunday.

The Blues led at every change, paced by an impressive 29 disposals, six clearances and a goal from midfielder Ollie Hollands.

Father-son prospect Cody Walker was quieter than last week, collecting just four touches before half-time and finishing with 15 and a goal.

Winger Lucas Camporeale had a team-high 30 disposals and 12 marks, while defensive trio Adam Saad (25 disposals), Harry Charleson (17) and Jordan Boyd (20) also provided plenty of run; Charleson and Boyd also kicking impressive second quarter goals.

Lachie Fogarty also found plenty of the ball in the midfield with 24 disposals, eight marks, six tackles and 0.2, as did Ben Cemporeale (21 disposals, 0.1).

There were mixed returns for the Blues forwards. After just one kick last week, Hudson O'Keefe had four touches and three goals by quarter-time but only registered four further disposals in the game.

Flynn Young (21 disposals, nine marks) was again lively but wasteful with 0.3 to follow on from 1.4 last week.

Liam Reidy again played well in ruck with 14 touches, 26 hitouts, seven clearances and a goal.

Ashton Moir (11 disposals, 1.2) will face a nervous wait after he left Nick Coffield concussed following a collision in the opening quarter.

Jai Saxena kicked five goals and Mitch Podhajski added four in Collingwood's 26-point loss to Port Melbourne.

While Saxena (10 disposals) and Podhajski (11 touches, five tackles) were busy up forward, midfielder Tyan Prindable led the way in the middle with 22 disposals, nine clearances, eight tackles and a goal.

Young onballer Harry DeMattia was also influential with 26 disposals, seven tackles and five clearances, while ruck Harrison Coe provided first use with 44 hitouts to go with six clearances and 15 disposals.

Iliro Smit (14 hitouts) and Jack Buller (14 disposals) both contributed a goal.

Jakob Ryan (19 disposals), Joel Cochran (14) and Wil Parker (15) were also in action.

Jade Gresham starred with five goals in Essendon's 27-point win over Sydney on Saturday. 

Gresham booted five from 13 touches, while out-of-favour mid Elijah Tsatas had the ball on a string, racking up 37 disposals, 10 clearances and five marks in a strong performance.

Tom Edwards kicked three goals from 21 disposals and seven marks, and ruck Lachie Blakiston was influential with 38 hitouts, 16 disposals, seven clearances and a goal.

Liam McMahon kicked 2.3 from eight disposals and five marks, with Matt Guelfi (nine disposals) also booting two.

Jayden Nguyen gathered 20 disposals and six marks, and Zak Johnson collected 24 touches after being dropped from the senior side.

Saad El-Hawli (22 disposals, six marks), Cillian Bourke (13 disposals), Ben McKay (eight, four marks) and Nik Cox (seven, one goal) were other Bombers in action.

This weekend: Peel Thunder v West Coast at Lane Group Stadium, Saturday August 15, 2.30pm AWST

Sean Darcy suffered a suspected lower leg injury during Peel's nine-point loss to West Coast on Saturday.

As the Fremantle ruck tries to break back into the AFL side, he was dealt with yet another suspected injury blow.

Darcy finished with just three disposals and 14 hitouts for Peel, before his day came to a premature end.

Charlie Nicholls and Jeremy Sharp produced impressive performances.

Only inaccuracy cost Nicholls an even bigger day as he finished with 4.4 from 12 disposals and seven marks.

Sharp was prolific again, gathering 33 disposals to go with six tackles.

Toby Whan (25 disposals) and Hugh Davies (23) were also busy, while Judd McVee had 21 touches after being axed from the senior side.

Jaren Carr (21 disposals and a goal), Bailey Banfield (20), Cooper Simpson (18) and Tobyn Murray (15 and two goals) were good for Peel.

Josh Draper finished with 14 disposals.

Geelong weathered monster performances from Cooper Harvey and Bailey Scott to come away 34-point victors over North Melbourne.

Ruckman Rhys Stanley did a bit of everything throughout the game, finishing with 20 disposals, 20 hitouts, five marks, five tackles and six clearances.

George Stevens continues to knock on the door for a senior call-up with another consistent 30-disposal, one-goal game, while Mitch Knevitt also hit the scoreboard from 27 touches.

Jesse Mellor's five-goal haul suggests Geelong's forward stocks are even deeper than most think, the 19-year-old also taking eight marks from 16 possessions.

Jack Bowes (18 disposals, one goal), Lennox Hofmann (20 disposals), Hunter Holmes (20 disposals), Cillian Burke (20 disposals) and Jack Martin (11 disposals, one goal) rounded out a consistent day across the board, while Joe Pike (11 disposals, 17 hit-outs) was solid in a back-up ruck role alongside Stanley.

Forward duo Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and Caleb Lewis combined for seven goals but it wasn't enough to get Gold Coast over the line in its hefty 103-point loss to Brisbane.

Ugle-Hagan (nine disposals) kicked four, while Lewis (12 disposals, seven marks) finished with three.

Max Knobel produced a colossal performance in the ruck, amassing 59 hitouts to go with 16 disposals and four clearances in a dominant display.

Midfielder Ben Jepson was prolific with a game-high 36 disposals, six clearances and five marks, while Jai Murray found plenty of the ball with 32 touches.

Zeke Uwland responded strongly after being omitted from the senior side this week, collecting 29 disposals, five tackles, three clearances, as well as booting a goal, with fellow Academy product Dylan Patterson also impressing with 22 disposals and four clearances.

Zak Evans (19 disposals), Koby Coulson (12, five marks), Cooper Bell (11, five marks), Avery Thomas (nine) and Oscar Adams (eight) were other AFL-listed Suns in action.

Greater Western Sydney proved no match for Tasmania in their Sunday afternoon clash.

Giants midfielder Jack Ough finished with a game-high 32 disposals and 10 clearances to be among his side's best.

Jake Riccardi was also busy up forward and in the ruck, collecting 20 disposals, six marks, nine hitouts, four clearances and kicking a goal.

Conor Stone chipped in with a goal from seven touches before getting a late call-up to the senior side to replace injured mid Toby Bedford to face West Coast.

Harrison Oliver (22 disposals, eight marks) impressed down back, while Oskar Taylor (16 disposals) and Finnegan Davis (13 disposals, six marks) provided plenty of support.

Ollie Hannaford added 10 disposals.

Hawthorn's depth was on full display with 17 AFL-listed players lining up for Box Hill in its 57-point win over Casey on Sunday.

Bodie Ryan finished with a game-high 34 disposals, nine marks and three clearances, while Finn Maginness continued his strong form with 24 disposals, seven marks and five clearances.

Cameron Nairn starred with three goals from 21 touches and 10 marks, with Aidan Schubert also booting three goals to go with his 13 disposals and eight marks.

Ruck Ned Reeves (27 hitouts, four clearances ), Max Ramsden (14 disposals, eight marks) and Sam Butler (15 touches) each kicked two goals.

Young key forward Calsher Dear threatened but finished with 1.3 from 12 touches, six marks and six tackles.

Henry Hustwaite was prolific through the middle with 24 disposals and eight clearances, Jack Dalton added a goal from his 19 disposals, Will McCabe kicked a goal to go with 21 disposals and nine marks, while Ollie Greeves gathered 26 disposals and five clearances.

Matt LeRay (16 disposals), James Blanck (seven disposals), Jack Scrimshaw (eight), Matt Hill (six) and Cody Anderson (five) were the other AFL-listed Hawks in action.

Melbourne vice-captain Jack Viney made a successful return from injury in Casey's 57-point loss to Box Hill.

Viney, playing his first game all season after ongoing Achilles and back injuries left him sidelined, pushed his case to be recalled for the Demons' finals campaign, kicking the opening goal of the match and finishing with 1.2, 19 disposals and a game-high 10 clearances. 

With young key forward Jacob van Rooyen offered a three-game ban for striking at senior level, veteran forward Jake Melksham put his hand up to cover his absence, kicking 3.3 from 15 disposals, seven marks and three tackles.

Key forward Aidan Johnson couldn't quite convert his opportunities, finishing with three behinds from 15 disposals and five marks.

Young midfielder Xavier Lindsay continued his strong form with a goal, 23 disposals, six marks and three clearances, while Ricky Mentha jnr gathered 20 disposals and seven marks, and Paddy Cross (18 disposals, five tackles, four clearances) worked hard all day.

Max Heath (18 hitouts, 14 disposals), Lukas Cooke (11 disposals, seven marks) and Xavier Taylor (nine disposals, four tackles) were also solid.

Jack Henderson (13 disposals), Riley Onley (12), Latrelle Pickett (12), Max Mapley (eight), Oscar Berry (six), Kalani White (two) and Luker Kentfield (three) were other AFL-listed Demons in action.

Cooper Harvey hasn't played senior football since North Melbourne's round 20 loss to St Kilda, while Bailey Scott was dropped after the round 21 loss to Hawthorn — but the pair will be in hot contention for call-ups after filling the stat sheet against Geelong's VFL side.

Harvey posted 39 disposals, 12 marks and four tackles, and Scott had 38 touches, eight marks, eight tackles and seven clearances. Both performances came in a losing side, however, as the Kangaroos fell to the Cats by 34 points.

Zac Fisher was another senior player to enjoy a day out, kicking a goal from 30 possessions, while young defender Josh Goater had 26 touches and six marks.

Luke Urquhart (13 disposals, five clearances), Tom Powell (13 disposals, one goal), Matt Whitlock (nine disposals, one goal), Brayden George (two goals), Lachie Dovaston (14 disposals, one goal) and Taylor Goad (10 disposals, 27 hit-outs) all had their moments, but Geelong's 33 shots on goal hint that defensive pressure remains a collective concern for North Melbourne.

Will Lorenz produced a busy performance as Port Adelaide suffered a 39-point loss to Sturt on Saturday.

Lorenz had 28 disposals as the Power well beaten at Alberton Oval.

Christian Moraes was good with 25 disposals and Will Brodie finished with 26 and an impressive 12 clearances.

Brandon Zerk-Thatcher (16 disposals) found a bit of the ball, while Xavier Walsh kicked two goals.

Port Next Generation Academy product Dougie Cochrane, a potential No.1 pick in this year's Telstra AFL Draft, had 12 disposals.

Samson Ryan responded strongly to being dropped after two consecutive senior appearances, kicking four goals from 15 disposals in Richmond’s 48-point win over St Kilda on Saturday.

The ruckman also had 11 hitouts and six marks, pairing well with Oliver Hayes-Brown (14 disposals, 15 hitouts, five clearances and one goal).

Jasper Alger was another to do make the most of his opportunities up forward with three goals from nine touches, while Liam Fawcett slotted two majors from six marks and nine disposals.

Academy prospect Tanner Armstrong impressed in his VFL debut for the club, finishing with 15 touches and six marks as he makes his way up draft prediction boards.

Kane McAuliffe was the Tigers’ biggest ballwinner with 25 touches, also notching a team-high nine clearances, while Tyler Sonsie found the ball 20 times.

Small forwards Zane Peucker (18 disposals, six marks) and Maurice Rioli (12 disposals, six tackles) kicked one goal each.

Key defender Campbell Grey increased his loads in his second game back from an injury layoff, registering 12 touches and seven marks, James Trezise had 17 disposals, Tom Burton 16 and Noah Roberts-Thompson finished with 15.

First-year midfielder Kye Fincher may be a chance to get a final-round debut after impressing in St Kilda’s 48-point loss to Richmond on Saturday, gathering 26 disposals, 11 marks and a team-high six tackles.

Liam Henry got more of the ball with 32 touches and nine clearances, capping his performance with a goal, with Lance Collard (12 disposals) the only other senior-listed Saint to kick a major, finishing with a wayward 1.3.

Former Blue Jack Carroll was busy with 21 touches and five marks.

Promising ruck prospect Alex Dodson had 20 hitouts with eight disposals, fellow big man Isaac Keeler also finishing with eight touches spending more time forward than on the ball, but failed to take his chances in front of goal kicking just three behinds.

Patrick Said had 11 disposals, Eamonn Armstrong had 14, Charlie Banfield eight and Anthony Caminiti seven.

Several senior-listed Swans put on strong showings in Sydney’s 27-point VFL loss to Essendon.

Caiden Cleary laid a whopping 16 tackles to go with his 29 disposals, nine clearances and a goal, while untried forward Jevan Phillipou kicked two goals.

After being omitted from the senior side, Hayden McLean kicked a goal while Angus Sheldrick had 28 touches, three clearances and a goal.

Corey Warner was similarly impressive with  25 disposals, seven tackles and three clearances, while Malcolm Rosas kicked a goal from 14 touches.

Veteran Harry Cunningham took four marks and amassed 20 disposals, while Tom Hanily kicked a goal from nine touches

Working hard in defence, Riak Andrew managed 14 disposals while Patrick Snell had 13.

This weekend: Peel Thunder v West Coast at Lane Group Stadium, Saturday August 15, 2.30pm AWST

Harry Barnett and Harvey Johnston fired in front of goal to lead the Eagles to a nine-point win over Peel.

Barnett booted three goals and also had 11 hitouts, while Johnston kicked two majors and laid six tackles in a strong performance in attack.

Malakai Champion also hit the scoreboard with two goals from 10 disposals and seven marks.

Fin Macrae was West Coast's leading disposal winner with 31, while Ryan Maric (25 disposals) and Clay Hall (25, seven tackles) were also prominent contributors.

Harry Schoenberg had 23 touches and 10 tackles, while ruckman Matt Flynn had a massive 40 hitouts among 19 disposals and five marks.

Youngsters Sandy Brock (19), Lucca Grego (14), Fred Rodriguez (12) and Tyrell Dewar (12, one goal) also played well.

Jack Hutchinson made a quiet return from a hamstring injury with six disposals and four marks but failed to hit the scoreboard.

Footscray's VFL title defence has come to an end with a 31-point loss to Carlton on Sunday.

The Dogs lost Nick Coffield (concussion) and Laitham Vandermeer (hamstring) to injury throughout the clash, and finish the season 14th.

Jedd Busslinger was strong in defence with 31 touches and eight intercepts for the Bulldogs, alongside Luke Cleary (28 touches, 10 intercepts).

Lachlan McNeil was busy throughout the game collecting 23 disposals, as was Oskar Baker with 26 and 10 marks. 

Harvey Gallagher gave the Dogs plenty of zip with 17 touches and four inside-50s and Will Darcy was powerful in the air and crafty at ground level with 16 disposals, eight marks and a goal.

Untried ruck Caleb May had 29 hitouts and seven touches, second-year utility Zac Walker kicked a goal among his six disposals and Ryan Gardner finished with 14 disposals and five intercepts in a key defensive post.
