RICHMOND has informed defender Kaleb Smith and key forward Liam Fawcett they will not be offered contracts for the 2027 season.

Smith departs Punt Road after 12 games in four years. Taken with pick No.49 in the 2022 AFL Draft, the West Australian missed his entire first season because of a foot injury before adding four games in 2024 and eight in 2025.

The 21-year-old put together a strong stretch of VFL form in 2026, but groin and quad injuries hindered his chances of a recall and he was unable to add to his games tally.

Fawcett leaves Richmond after eight appearances and 12 goals across three seasons. Selected with pick No.43 in the 2023 National Draft, the South Australian endured an injury-interrupted start to his career, sidelined for most of his debut season with a back stress issue before a syndesmosis injury curtailed his campaign last year.

The 21-year-old featured in seven games this season, including two three-goal hauls, but did not return to the senior side after round 15.

Richmond footy manager Blair Hartley thanked both players for their hard work and positive attitudes across their time at the club.

"It is always a difficult time of year when we need to make these list decisions," he said.

"Both players moved interstate to start their AFL careers and put their best foot forward during their time at the club.

"We wish them well for their future pursuits on and off the field."

Richmond premiership players Dion Prestia and Nathan Broad also won't be at the Tigers next season.
