PORT Adelaide star key forward Mitch Georgiades will undergo post-season shoulder surgery after being included in the All-Australian squad for the second straight year. 

The 24-year-old kicked 51.47 to finish eighth in the Coleman Medal behind now three-time winner Charlie Curnow, before placing third in the John Cahill Medal last week. 

Georgiades dealt with a shoulder issue during 2026 and has now been booked in for a procedure that won't impact his pre-season. 

The West Australian was set to enter 2027 as one of the biggest free agents on the market, but last month he re-signed for two more seasons to extend his stay at Alberton until 2029.

Willem Drew also requires foot surgery for the second straight year and will have a plantar fascia release to help with ongoing discomfort in the arch of his foot. 

The 27-year-old underwent the same procedure on his other foot ahead of the 2025 season. 

Like Georgiades, Drew's pre-season isn't expected to be delayed by the surgery. 

Drew finished fourth in the John Cahill Medal last week after playing 22 games in Josh Carr's first season in charge of the Power.

Port Adelaide's football department will be reconfigured over the summer after four changes at the end of the season.

Head of development Matthew Lobbe, development coach Cam Sutcliffe and SANFL coach Jacob Surjan all departed the club last month.

Director of coaching Andy Collins has also returned to Victoria for family reasons after one season at Alberton. 

The club added senior assistant Stuart Dew and GM Ben Rutten after that appointment, but is unlikely to directly replace that role with enough support already around Carr.
