BRISBANE'S young star Logan Morris is open to starting contract talks with the Lions once their finals campaign finishes in a positive sign for his future at the club.

Morris is out of contract at the end of the 2027 season and has already been the subject of serious rival interest, having been comfortable waiting until deeper into this year before beginning any contract discussions.

But after the Lions secured free agent Zac Bailey this week on an eight-year deal believed to be worth between $9-10 million to remain at the club, the next key signature is that of Morris.

Geelong, Melbourne, Collingwood, Carlton and Tasmania are among the clubs to have already signalled their serious interest in the forward ahead of next year, with the Lions having also been keen for an extended period to sign him to a new deal and take him out of the 2027 uncontracted list.

AFL.com.au understands the 21-year-old, who last month became an All-Australian for the first time, has an appetite to get into talks on a new deal – likely shorter term – once Brisbane's season is done. 

He was a top priority target for the Devils, who have access to out-of-contract players as free agents in 2027 and 2028, however it is believed Morris wouldn't consider a move to Tasmania given his only draw away from the Lions would be to his home state of Victoria despite the Devils' advances of a significant long-term offer. 

The former Western Jets product has kicked 142 goals from 68 games to start his AFL career, and has been central to the Lions' back-to-back flag successes. 

He would command deals of more than $1.5 million a season at rival clubs given his status as a long-term key forward who has already dominated on the big stage, however the Lions' bursting cap would mean he would have to accept less to stay at the club. 

Incredibly, Morris is currently still on the AFL's standardised deal for draftees in their third seasons, which has had upticks given his achievements and performances but is part of the collective bargaining agreement's third year base salary. 

Morris' close mate Kai Lohmann is also out of contract at the Lions next year and is going to be a highly sought after signature with Victorian clubs also already prioritising him as a target for the end of his sixth season.
