LOGAN Morris' Grand Final heroics have another layer, with the now three-time Brisbane premiership star revealing he has played the second half of this season with a back stress fracture. 

Morris kicked two goals in the final two minutes of Saturday's epic premiership decider against Fremantle – one to put Brisbane ahead and the final goal to clinch the Lions' flag – to finish with three goals for the game.

It took his season tally to 72 in just his third campaign at AFL level and was weeks after he had made the All-Australian team for the first time. This all the while the 21-year-old has been secretly carrying a back injury that has forced him to barely train during the week and be nursed through games. 

"I can probably say it now, but I've had a stress fracture in the left side of my back for probably the back half of the year. I've been trying to juggle my load and it's been a bit of a pain because you want to be fresh but you also want to be playing," Morris said post-game in an elated Brisbane rooms.

"It's a credit to the medical staff in the way they've handled it and being able to get me up for games every week. To be able to get the reward today in a Grand Final, it pays off when your back's pretty sore throughout the year."

Morris, who has now kicked 149 goals from his first 71 games, including three Grand Final victories, said the Lions had carefully managed his training to ensure their spearhead was right to go. He didn't miss a game. 

"I just don't train at the start of the week. Obviously, you have to train in the main training, but I don't do much through the start of the week. It's even been hard to get involved in doing touch and skills when you can't really train much. It's a relief now sitting back winning a third Grand Final after a pretty challenging year with my body," he said.

Morris' story in being a central figure in the Brisbane three-peat saw him enter finals folklore with his finish to this Grand Final, with his one-on-one mark against Oscar McDonald and then composed kick for goal giving the Lions the lead just minutes after the Dockers had jumped to a 17-point lead that appeared unassailable. 

He credited former Carlton and Western Bulldogs defender, and now Lions development coach, Liam Jones for some advice at the half-time break.

"Throughout the game I was getting under him (McDonald) and wasn't marking the ones that I would have liked. Liam Jones actually at half-time came up to me and just said 'Be patient with your marking, don't release too early'," he said.

"I think I did it perfectly and released it at a perfect time. I was definitely shitting it a bit (for the kick). I didn't know how long was left, I knew there were about 90 seconds, so I knew that this kick was to put us up in a Grand Final. I was nervous but I got back to what I do at training, what I do throughout the whole year, and I'm super stoked to be able to go back and kick it."

Morris' run of three flags from his first three years on an AFL list puts him into history as the first to do it, but he said the Lions' mantra was to continue. 

More flags? Why not? 

"I know it's been spoken about before the game to be the first ever player to win in their first three seasons, so to be able to accomplish it is super special. I'm super grateful to be a part of this footy club," he said.

"Marcus (Ashcroft) came up to Will and I after the game and said 'Enjoy this one, but you've got to go again.' I will enjoy it for a couple of weeks and rest our bodies in the off-season and come back in December come back fit and firing and go again."  

And Morris would have had one extra special fan in the dying moments of the game. Earlier this week, Australia's pop princess Kylie Minogue, in an exclusive interview with AFL.com.au, thanked Morris for using her song 'On A Night Like This' as his goal song.

He made sure it blared out through the MCG on Saturday when it mattered most.

"I did see that. I appreciate that. I was a bit shattered I couldn't meet her, but hopefully she was loving it after a few goals in the last quarter and her song came on," Morris said.
