WEST Coast is keeping tabs on former Collingwood forward Bobby Hill as he eyes a return to the AFL, although Fremantle has confirmed it will not chase him over the off-season.

And St Kilda has expressed a desire in topping up its list over the summer, although the Saints are yet to explore their interest in either Hill or Jake Stringer.

Hill and the Magpies cut ties earlier this year after the forward went through a range of personal issues, but the 2023 Norm Smith medallist has since been pushing to return to the top level.

Eagles list boss Matt Clarke said the club will work through some more delistings in the coming days with a view to signing some players over the summer, with Hill on their watch list.

"I think anyone of that sort of talent ... you need to look at," Clarke told Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio of Hill on Thursday.

"Most clubs, I would have thought, are doing some due diligence about Bobby and how he's tracking. It'd be great if he could get himself back into a great frame of mind and physical shape to give himself a shot at AFL footy.

"He'll be another one we'll assess for a potential position in that space."

The Saints have also not shut the door on making a play for Hill or Stringer, who left Greater Western Sydney in August and wants to play for a fourth AFL club.

Saints footy boss Lenny Hayes said the club hasn't yet spoken about either Hill or Stringer but did not rule out a play for them as they look to bring in more goalscoring options.

"We haven't really discussed Bobby. I know Bobby from my time at the Giants. He's been training hard and is keen for another opportunity, but it isn't one we have discussed at the moment," Hayes told Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio.

"Jake is a quality player. I don't know where it sits with Jake at the moment. It's another one that hasn't really been discussed for us at the moment. He would add some scoring power to any forward line so I'm sure there are some clubs discussing him.

"As a footy club and a list management team, I'm sure they're discussing all different options. We want to get better and there might be some guys who have come off lists who we might potentially add in the next couple of months."

The Dockers, however, said a move for Hill is off the table.

"Obviously we wish him all the best and hope that he does the work that he needs to do to look at an opportunity somewhere, but for us, it's just not something that we'll continue to explore," Fremantle football boss Joe Brierty said on Continental Tyres AFL Trade Radio.

"We know he's an amazing talent and I'm sure that he's got something to offer at AFL level but for us at the moment, it's not something we'll consider."

Hill and Stringer could join a club as a delisted free agent or as pre-season supplementary signing before the 2027 season.
