THE WESTERN Bulldogs have appointed former Carlton and Geelong assistant coach Dale Amos to join Luke Beveridge's coaching panel ahead of 2027.

Amos will coach the backline at the Whitten Oval, replacing Daniel Pratt after he was poached by Essendon last month.

The Bulldogs have been scouring the market for a replacement and have now made an appointment ahead of pre-season.

Amos has spent the past five years working as head of football at Xavier College in Melbourne and also spent time with the Demons’ AFLW program.

Before that, Amos spent six years as backline coach with the Blues but departed Princes Park when David Teague was sacked towards the end of 2021.

The South Barwon great got his AFL start as Geelong’s VFL coach in 2009 and spent three years in that role and then three years as an assistant under Chris Scott.

Amos will be in charge of mentoring a backline that now includes Jordon Butts, who moved from Adelaide as a free agent in October, and Buku Khamis, who re-signed with the Bulldogs in September.

Pratt moved to the Bombers last month as Mark McVeigh’s senior assistant.

Essendon made an approach for Brendon Lade at the end of the home-and-away season, but the Port Adelaide great opted to stay at the kennel and will coach the midfield again, which now includes superstar Zak Butters.

Now the Bulldogs' coaching panel is set for 2027 with player development manager Tony Brown also starting with the club in November after moving from St Kilda after 15 years running the Saints’ welfare program.
