COLLINGWOOD has become a tighter group since being told in March that teammates Lachie Keeffe and Josh Thomas had returned positive drug tests, young defender Tom Langdon says.

However Langdon told AFL.com.au he would be lying if he said the situation had not affected the players.

"It has had an impact, but at the same time it has jelled the group together," Langdon said.

He said their different personalities meant both were being missed during their provisional suspensions.

"Keeffey is a pretty outgoing individual," Langdon said.

"He always had the ability to get us up for training just with his energy, and all the guys love him … he brings that bubbliness to the group.

"Josh [Thomas] is pretty similar. He is a bit more quiet and he is pretty good mates with most of the guys."

Keeffe and Thomas returned a positive test to a prohibited substance on February 10 after undergoing a routine urine sample.

Collingwood was informed of the results on March 27 and the players were provisionally suspended under the AFL Anti-Doping Code.

Their B-samples were tested on Tuesday, April 14, and Collingwood expects to have news on the results of that test within a week.

Keeffe has been at the Magpies since 2009 and played 40 games since making his debut in 2011.

Thomas was drafted in 2009 and has played 19 games since his debut in 2013.
