NORTH Melbourne has shown faith in skilful left-footer Brad McKenzie, signing him to a new one-year deal.
The 22-year-old has played 23 matches in four seasons since being selected with pick No.18 in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft.
McKenzie toiled away at VFL level for most of 2015, before being rewarded with a senior call-up in round 23.
He made the most of his opportunity, finishing with 18 disposals as one of North’s best against Richmond.
North assistant Jarred Moore praised McKenzie’s improvement in the latter part of 2015.
"By his own admission he struggled for the first few rounds. After sitting down and working everything out, he knuckled down and played some really good footy in the back end of the year," Moore told NMFC.com.au.
"From halfway on, the majority (of his time) was on the wing and his work rate went to another level.
"To be able to force his way into the side for round 23, then play well, showed everyone he’s definitely up to the standard. We’re hoping to see more of him."
