GOLD Coast coach Rodney Eade has questioned the umpiring in his team's 37-point loss against Port Adelaide on Saturday night.

Eade stopped short of criticising the four men in green, but clearly had a raised eyebrow at a few of their decisions, despite his team winning the free kick count 26-24.

When asked whether the umpires had to adjudicate differently in the slippery conditions, he was blunt.

"(It was) one way I thought," Eade said.

"(I'd) certainly like some of our forwards to get protection at times, (that would) be handy.

"I think I might talk to (umpires boss) Wayne Campbell during the week about that.

"It's best for me to not comment too much."

Suns forwards Charlie Dixon and Tom Lynch won five free kicks between them and conceded four, but appeared to be infringed against on a number of occasions.

Aside from his beef with the whistleblowers, Eade was slightly disappointed in his team's effort.

Although agreeing the injury-depleted Suns were running out of legs, he conceded the Power beat them in most of the important areas, including inside 50s (66-40) and contested possessions (172-153).

"There was half a dozen players I was really disappointed in that didn't give a yelp," Eade said.

"They were harder at the contest than us. I just don't think we were bold in anything we did.

"When we started to be bold with our ball movement, we were dangerous, but we got conservative.

"There were some bad things that crept in, but I haven't seen them much for 10 to 12 weeks, so I think those things will be eradicated by next year."

The Suns picked up another couple of injuries from the match, with Clay Cameron (concussion), Aaron Hall (back spasm) and Harley Bennell (calf) limping to the finish line.
