Dion Prestia wants to be traded to Richmond

GOLD Coast midfielder Dion Prestia has officially nominated Richmond as his preferred destination.

The news, announced on the Richmond website, confirmed AFL.com.au's exclusive article from August 18 that Prestia wanted to become a Tiger.

Dan Richardson, Richmond’s football manager, said, "At 23 years of age, Dion has shown that he's both a quality player and person, and he would be a great addition to our list.

"The club will work with both the Gold Coast Suns and Dion's manager, Marty Pask, to come to a suitable trade arrangement, and will make no further comment until such time."

Gold Coast told AFL.com.au it would also be making no further comment.

Following Prestia's announcement on Sunday that he wanted to leave the Suns after six seasons and 95 games, the club said it wanted an "acceptable deal" for a trade to be completed.

It was a stance they made abundantly clear following fellow midfielder Jaeger O'Meara's request to leave earlier last week.

Prestia was a Gold Coast vice-captain and highly respected at the club.

Both he and O'Meara are expected to attend the Suns' best and fairest on Friday night.
