Aliir Aliir – 7
Provided wonderful defensive pressure, whether it was one on one or as the third-man in over the top. Kept dangerous Crows forward Tom Lynch without a touch in the first quarter. Had a quieter second half, but was a pivotal figure when the game was up for grabs.

Lance Franklin – 7
After going goal-less against Greater Western Sydney, Franklin kicked three goals in the opening half and four for the game. Was deployed closer to goal and had the better of Daniel Talia. Franklin kicked an important goal in the third quarter when the Crows were fighting back, but Kyle Hartigan did a good job on him.

Heath Grundy – 7
It was another workmanlike performance from the veteran defender. Completely shut Crows key forward Josh Jenkins – who had eight touches and didn't kick a goal – out of the game. Grundy does the job week in and week out without much fuss.

Prelim comes at a cost

Dan Hannebery – 8
Provided plenty of run on the outside and racked up 31 possessions, with the majority of those uncontested. Hannebery torched the Crows with his pace and skill around the ground.

Isaac Heeney – 9
Outstanding. Covered a heap of ground racking up 32 touches, nine marks and five inside 50s. Threw his body into packs and worked hard whether he was up on the wing, pushing back into defence or up forward.

George Hewett – 4
Performed his role without standing out. Collected 15 possessions and did what was required of him.

Kieren Jack – 7
The Swans co-captain was consistent as usual in the midfield with 25 possessions, with 11 of those contested, and six tackles. Used the ball really well when he found it and did the hard yards in and under the packs.

Josh P. Kennedy – 9
Absolutely brilliant. Knocked out last week by Stevie Johnson, Kennedy racked up an incredible 42 disposals, with 21 of those contested, 10 clearances, 14 score involvements and eight marks. Dominated the stoppages and gave the Swans outside runners first use of the ball.

Injuries cloud Swans' chances

Jeremy Laidler – 6
Performed a solid role in the backline with 22 possessions. Used the ball cleanly and made good decisions, while keeping the Crows' forwards in check.

Jake Lloyd – 6
Was extremely busy on the wing with 15 possessions in the first half and 27 for the game. Provided the Swans with plenty of drive down the flanks.

Harrison Marsh – 4
Had a quiet first half with four touches before finishing the game with 11 possessions. Didn't have an impact.

Ben McGlynn – 7
Was lively up forward kicking three goals and presenting a strong marking target inside the forward 50. Along with Papley, provided great assistance to Franklin and continually threatened the Crows' defence.

Jarrad McVeigh – 3
Spent time off the ground with a calf injury, but returned to start the third quarter. However, McVeigh spent the end of the game on the bench with ice wrapped around his calf and will be in doubt for the preliminary final.

Tom Mitchell – 7
Extremely busy early on with an equal team-high nine touches in the first quarter before finishing with 32 possessions, 12 of those contested. Very busy through the midfield.

Sam Naismith – 6
Did a solid job in sharing the ruck duties with Toby Nankervis against Sam Jacobs. Had 22 hitouts and 12 possessions, while also providing a strong presence when spending time in the forward line.

The game in pictures: Swans flex their muscles

Toby Nankervis – 6
Effectively shared the ruck duties with Naismith to nullify the influence of Jacobs. Had 16 hitouts and 15 possessions, while also throwing his body around in the forward line.

Tom Papley – 8
Outstanding performance as a small forward, kicking four goals. Constantly knew where to be at the fall of the ball and roved the packs beautifully. Made the most of every opportunity that came his way.

Luke Parker – 7
Pivotal yet again with 24 possessions and doing the grunt work in and under the contests. Some of his six clearances were outstanding and also had five hit-outs as the third man up in ruck contests.

Dane Rampe – 7
Did a brilliant negating job on Adelaide skipper Taylor Walker. Rampe found plenty of ball himself and was a part of an outstanding back six.

Xavier Richards – 6
Performed his role as a small forward with a couple of goals and was always dangerous anytime he was near the ball. Along with Tom Papley, was a perfect foil for Lance Franklin.

Gary Rohan – 3
Stretchered off the ground with a right knee injury near the end of the second quarter. Had a couple of nice touches before the injury, including kicking the opening goal of the game from outside 50.

Nick Smith – 8
In the Swans' top three players on the night. Racked up 25 possessions, but more importantly was the defensive job he did on Eddie Betts, who was kept quiet for most of the night.
