MITCH Clark has been delisted by Geelong.

The key forward managed just nine games in his two seasons with the Cats, with injuries restricting his ability to get on to the field.

Clark, 29, has played 13 games in the past four seasons, for a total of 106 games in 11 seasons at the top level with the Brisbane Lions, Melbourne and Geelong.

Cats football manager Steve Hocking said the club never saw the best of the 29-year-old, after previous stints with the Brisbane Lions and Melbourne.

"Unfortunately Mitch suffered a number of injuries during his two years at Geelong and as a result, wasn't able to perform to his true capability," Hocking said.

"We thank Mitch for his time at the club and wish him and his family all the best for their future."

Clark joined Geelong at the end of 2014 in a three-way trade that saw Collingwood's Heritier Lumumba join Melbourne and Geelong premiership player Travis Varcoe move to the Pies.

Clark's manager Colin Young said during the NAB AFL Trade period his client was keen to play on.

"I think Mitch has two to three years left in him. I think he's in the best condition of his life," Young told SEN.

The big man played 15 matches in two seasons for Melbourne before deciding to retire at the start of the 2014 season after being diagnosed with clinical depression.

Clark told the Demons his battle with mental illness would not allow him to commit to a full-time career at the Demons.

A serious Lisfranc foot injury forced him to miss 18 months during his time at Melbourne, while a series of soft-tissue injuries kept him from taking the field.

The mobile big man previously played 82 games in six seasons with the Brisbane Lions after being drafted at pick No.9 in the 2005 NAB AFL Draft.

Clark made an impact in the early stages of his career at Geelong before a serious calf injury suffered against West Coast in round nine, 2015, ended his season.

Clark then suffered a setback to his calf at the start of 2016, pushing his return to the side back further.

The key forward played just one game for the Cats this season against the Sydney Swans in round 16.

He continued to battle mental illness during his time at Geelong, highlighted by when he appeared dejected and did not join in the team's song after the club's round six victory over Collingwood in 2015.

Clark has kicked 111 goals in 106 games in his 10-year career.
