JAKE Stringer's management insists talks with interested clubs haven't stalled, despite explosive allegations about his off-field life.

The premiership forward has met with Essendon and Geelong in recent weeks, after the Western Bulldogs informed Stringer's management he was on the trade table.

Stringer had previously stated he would make an announcement on his preferred destination as early as last week.

But the Bulldog is still mulling over a decision.

To add to that, Stringer has had to deal with a raft of allegations from his former partner, which include excessive gambling and infidelity.

Stringer's manager, Paul Connors, wasn't willing to comment on his client's personal issues but admitted the 23-year-old was struggling.

"I don’t think he's finding [the process] that great at all," Connors said on Tuesday.

"I think that's a really private matter that I don't really want to touch and I don’t think anyone should really.

"He's just working through it as well. He's had a whirlwind few weeks, he's got a few issues that he's dealing with and he'll address that in due course.

"In time he'll make a decision on where he thinks is best for his football."

Connors said there was no rush for Stringer to make a decision on his future.

There have been reports that Essendon is the front runner, but Connors said that wasn’t necessarily correct.

The NAB AFL Trade Period officially begins on Monday October 9.
