VETERAN St Kilda recruiter Tony Elshaug is set to step down as the club's list manager.

Having been employed at the Saints in a number of roles for more than a decade, Elshaug will relinquish his position as St Kilda's list manager at season's end.

BIG CHALLENGE Richo excited by next two months

"After discussions with Tony over the past few weeks, we have agreed that the time is right to bring someone new in to oversee the list management strategy," St Kilda footy boss Simon Lethlean said in a statement on Friday.

"Their primary focus will be acquiring and retaining elite talent, managing our young developing list, modernising our practices and systems and ensuring we are at the cutting edge in this critical area of the football industry.

"Tony is someone of great integrity, knowledge and experience and is renowned for his incredible work ethic."

While Elshaug will step down as the club's list manager, the Saints have hinted at the possibility of finding a new role for the veteran recruiter at Moorabbin.

"I would like to thank the St Kilda Football Club for all the opportunities that it has afforded me, and acknowledge the wonderful friendships that I have made in football along the way," Elshaug said.

"I am looking forward to the remainder of the year with the club but the time is right to move on and begin the next chapter."

Elshaug first arrived at St Kilda as an assistant coach under Ross Lyon in 2007, before moving into recruitment in 2011 and finally into the position as its list manager in 2014.
