GOLD Coast is making a play to reunite senior coach Stuart Dew with former teammate and current Adelaide assistant Josh Francou.

Dew and Francou played together at Port Adelaide and were part of the same Sydney coaching group under John Longmire from 2014 to last year, when they both moved to other clubs.

Francou, 44, was also in charge of SANFL club North Adelaide from 2011 to 2013, and joined the Crows on a multi-year contract.

He made 156 appearances for the Power between 1997 and 2005 and was an All Australian in 2002, but a knee injury cost him playing in the club's 2004 premiership alongside Dew.

Dew already brought George Stone with him from the Swans as his coaching advisor for his first season in charge at the Suns, and Francou would be a continuation of that approach.

Josh Drummond, who played 94 games for Brisbane and has held various coaching roles at North Melbourne since the end of 2012, is also linked with a move to the Suns.

Gold Coast has vacancies in its coaching team, with ex-Power coach Matthew Primus and long-time AFL assistant Andy Lovell not offered contracts for next year.

The coaching merry-go-round has kicked into gear in the past week since the August 1 deadline for clubs to give assistant coaches clarity on their future.

Francou is not the first Crows coaching member to be discussed, following Ryan O'Keefe's contract not being renewed and Ben Hart weighing up other offers against a return to West Lakes.

Dean Solomon is currently Gold Coast's senior assistant coach and Ashley Prescott is another assistant, while Shaun Hart, Nick Malceski and Aaron Rogers work in development.

Primus has received interest from Melbourne-based clubs, but looks set to remain in Queensland.
