Big-bodied midfielder Cameron Ellis-Yolmen responded to his omission in the best way possible, racking up 40 disposals, nine inside 50s, eight marks and a goal in Adelaide's 57-point loss to Glenelg.

Sam Gibson's quest for a farewell AFL game after announcing his retirement continues, picking up 39 disposals, eight marks, six inside 50s and a goal.

Mature-aged rookie midfielder Patrick Wilson, who played his one and only AFL game in round 13, was another one to feature prolifically, with 33 disposals, nine marks and a goal.

Forward Ben Davis, who is yet to make his debut, kicked three goals and two behinds from just eight disposals.

Brisbane Lions

Ben Keays had a busy match, finishing with 34 disposals, 11 marks, nine tackles and a disappointing 1.4.

After playing 26 games in his first two seasons, Keays has only managed two AFL matches in 2018.

Corey Lyons (younger brother of Gold Coast's Jarryd) was another one to feature heavily with 34 touches, nine marks and a goal.

Defender Sam Mayes was busy with 28 (including 13 marks), while Connor Ballenden, Liam Dawson and Toby Wooler all kicked three goals each in Brisbane's 93-point win over Gold Coast.

Carlton

This weekend: Northern Blues v Sandringham - Saturday, August 18, Preston City Oval

There weren't many AFL-listed players running around in the Northern Blues' 34-point win over Sandringham.

In wet and windy conditions, Levi Casboult struggled to hold his marks at times, but used his body well to finish with 13 disposals, six marks, two goals and 28 hit-outs.

Cam O'Shea backed up his best-afield effort last week in the VFL with 23 disposals and nine tackles.

Rookie Matt Shaw used his pace to break the lines on occasion, finishing with 20 touches.

Collingwood

This weekend: Collingwood v Frankston - Sunday, August 19, 1pm, Victoria Park

Alex Fasolo staked his claim for a late season recall, the 26-year-old kicking five goals in Collingwood's demolition of Frankston. 

Josh Smith, Rupert WillsBen Crocker and Sam McLarty (who was reported for tripping in the fourth quarter) all got in on the act, with the quartet each chiming in with two majors.

Fasolo, Smith, Wills, Crocker and Callum Brown were listed as the Pies' best in the 20.17 (137) to 1.4 (10) triumph.

Carlton

State league affiliate: Essendon (VFL)
This weekend: Essendon v Footscray - Saturday, August 18, 12pm, Windy Hill

James Stewart and Matthew Leuenberger each booted three goals as the Bombers accounted for the Bulldogs by 45 points.

Stewart also had 18 touches and eight marks, while Leuenberger gathered 12 disposals, took six marks and laid six tackles.

Dylan Clarke amassed 26 possessions and laid six tackles, Jordan Ridley finished with 23 touches and nine marks, and Kobe Mutch won the ball 22 times and laid nine tackles.

Fremantle

Veteran Danyle Pearce is finishing his final year at the Dockers with a rush, picking up 29 disposals and four inside 50s, raising his hopes of a farewell match. 

First-year midfielders Tom North (19 disposals) and Mitch Crowden (17) were busy in Peel Thunder's eight-point loss. North is yet to make his debut, while Crowden has played 12 games this year.

Draftee forward Hugh Dixon, who signed a new deal during the week, kicked three goals and took five marks.

Ruckman Scott Jones, who has performed well as a back-up ruck this year in the AFL, had 38 hit-outs.

Geelong Cats

This weekend: Coburg v Geelong - Saturday, August 18, 12pm, Piranha Park

Stewart Crameri kicked four goals from his 14 possessions as Geelong thrashed Coburg at home.

Crameri also took seven marks on a day not suited to tall forwards. 

Quinton Narkle, who was dropped back to the VFL, was outstanding, picking up 34 touches and kicking a goal.

James Parsons, who was also omitted from the Cats' side that humiliated Fremantle, finished the day with 26 disposals and five marks.

Charlie Constable (30 disposals and a goal) and Gryan Miers (28 possessions and a goal) were also good, while Zac Smith (17 touches and two goals) was excellent in the ruck.

Big man Wylie Buzza played little part, going off early with what appeared to be an ankle injury. 

Geelong won 20.9 (129) to 7.6 (48).

Gold Coast Suns

Jacob Dawson was a shining light in Gold Coast's 93-point loss to fierce rivals Brisbane, finishing with 40 disposals, 11 marks and six tackles. He has played three AFL matches in his first season. 

Josh Schoenfeld'good NEAFL form continued with 35 touches and eight marks.

Rookie Darcy MacPherson (21 disposals) and Jack Scrimshaw (19) also featured.

The Suns kicked just three goals for the match.

GWS Giants

This weekend: GWS Giants v Sydney - Saturday, August 18, 1.10pm, Spotless Stadium

Running defender Zac Williams made his return from a torn Achilles in style, finishing with 30 disposals and seven tackles in GWS' 56-point loss to cross-town rivals Sydney. 

Former Blue Dylan Buckley kicked four goals from 14 disposals, while young Giant Isaac Cumming had 26 touches.

Rookie Zach Sproule had 14 disposals, while key defender Tim Mohr had just one disposal, rounding out the five senior-listed Giants on the field.

Hawthorn

This weekend: Box Hill Hawks v Casey Demons - Saturday, August 18, 2pm, Box Hill City Oval

Born-again forward David Mirra followed up last week's four-goal haul with another three from 17 disposals in Box Hill's 45-point victory over Casey.

Mirra has spent the vast majority of his state-level career as a lockdown key defender.

Rookie James Cousins was prolific with 35 disposals (23 of which were kicks), along with eight tackles and six marks.

Jono O'Rourke, who has struggled to hold his spot at AFL level despite finally being injury-free, had 25 disposals.

Versatile midfield/defender rookie Changkuoth Jiath was also busy with 20 touches.

Melbourne

This weekend: Box Hill Hawks v Casey Demons - Saturday, August 18, 2pm, Box Hill City Oval

Midfielder Tom Bugg's quest for a senior berth continues, with 28 disposals and seven tackles in Casey's 45-point loss to Box Hill.

Bugg has played just three AFL games this year; the last one coming in round four.

Defender Josh Wagner was busy with 21 disposals and an impressive 11 tackles, while first-year key defender Harrison Petty had 14 touches and took six marks.

Sam Powell-Pepper could find himself back in Power colours following a fine display for the Magpies.

Powell-Pepper finished with 33 touches, six marks and seven tackles in the 22-point loss.

Will Snelling had 29 possessions and 10 tackles, Jackson Trengove collected 24 disposals and laid eight tackles, and Jake Neade kicked a goal and won 22 touches. 

West Australian Jake Patmore was busy with three goals and 19 possessions, while Lindsay Thomas kicked 1.2 from 15 disposals.

Richmond

Young winger Ed Phillips led the way for Sandringham, finishing with 36 disposals in a wet and windy loss to Northern Blues. 

Luke Dunstan, who hasn't played a senior match since round 20, had 34 touches.

First-year running pair Hunter Clark and Nick Coffield had 20 disposals apiece, as did veteran Mav Weller, who also kicked a goal. 

Sydney Swans

Veteran defender Heath Grundy, who has taken some time away from AFL to deal with his mental health, was dominant with 28 disposals and 12 marks in Sydney's big 56-point win over GWS.

Irish defender Colin O'Riordan had 30 disposals and took eight marks.

Dean Towers played the first eight games in the AFL but has only managed one since. He finished with 30 touches and took eight marks.

Young ruckman Darcy Cameron backed up last week's 30-touch effort with 22 and seven tackles.

West Coast Eagles

This weekend: East Perth v West Perth - Saturday, August 18, 3.10pm, Leederville Oval

Midfielder Luke Partington, who hasn't managed to break into West Coast's strong senior side this year, had 26 disposals, six marks and a goal in East Perth's 18-point loss to West Perth. 

Key forward Matthew Allen, who was on the cusp of making his senior debut this week, had 23 disposals and eight inside 50s, while fellow forward Jake Waterman finished with 19 touches and booted three goals.

First-year midfielders Brayden Ainsworth (21 disposals) and Hamish Brayshaw (19) continued their strong WAFL form.

Draftee forward Oscar Allen kicked two.

Western Bulldogs

State league affiliate: Footscray (VFL)
This weekend: Essendon v Footscray - Saturday, August 18, 12pm, Windy Hill

Roarke Smith got through his return match from concussion unscathed, finishing with 12 disposals and four marks in Footscray's 46-point loss to Essendon.

Smith has had a rough time of late, taken to hospital after a car crash, missing a match, then getting concussed in his AFL return.

Midfielder Mitch Honeychurch had 28 disposals, while Tom Campbell and Tim English performed well, alternating between ruck and forward.
