CARLTON expects to hear whether it has landed either Dylan Shiel or Will Setterfield, or potentially both, within the next two days.

Shiel, 25, is contracted for 2019 but has met with the Blues, Hawthorn, St Kilda and Essendon ahead of a possible return home to Victoria.

Meanwhile, Carlton's acquisition of Collingwood unrestricted free agent Alex Fasolo is expected soon.

Setterfield is signed until the end of 2020 but also has permission from Greater Western Sydney to meet with Victorian clubs.

Carlton and the Bombers are believed to be in the running for the 20-year-old.

Carlton list manager Stephen Silvagni told Macquarie Sports Radio on Monday morning a decision from Shiel was imminent.

"We're hoping within the next 24-48 hours, like the other three clubs that are waiting, that a decision's made," Silvagni said.

The scenario is similar with Setterfield, who was drafted at No.5 in 2016 but has struggled with injury during his short career.

"We're still in a waiting pattern there as well. Hopefully, I think ourselves and other clubs will have an answer within the next 24-48 hours," Silvagni said.

If Carlton were to land the GWS pair, it would have recruited 12 players from the Giants since 2014.

The Blues hold the prized No.1 selection in the NAB AFL Draft and haven't ruled out trading that if the right deal comes along.

"It's a big decision if that was to occur. It's highly unlikely (Carlton would trade it) but having said that, you just don't know what may come across the table over the trade period," Silvagni said.

He didn't expect Adelaide to receive the selection as the two clubs negotiate on a deal to bring spring-heeled forward Mitch McGovern to Ikon Park.

"We haven't really spoken about pick one. Having said that, we're a fair way down the track (and) getting closer to a deal," Silvagni said.

"We're on talking terms, so that's a start."

Silvagni hinted at the pending pick-up of Fasolo when speaking to NAB AFL Trade Radio.

"Hopefully we may have some news there in the next 48 hours. We're still going through that process," he said.
