Gold Coast agreed to delist Lyons on Wednesday, saying in its release another club had offered the 26-year-old more midfield time.

AFL.com.au understands that club is expected to be its state rival, which is tipped to sign Lyons once the delisted free agency period opens on Thursday.

His younger brother Corey is also at the Lions but has yet to make his senior debut, and the club has strong links to the former Adelaide on-baller, given football manager David Noble was at the club alongside Lyons before shifting to Queensland.

Lyons played 19 games for the Suns this season but fell out of favour in their first-choice midfield.

He would join star recruit Lachie Neale in a talented and developing Brisbane midfield unit that will be hoping to build on its five-win season in 2018.

Lyons played 55 games for Adelaide between 2012-2016 before crossing to the Suns at the end of 2016. He has played 92 games in his career and booted 49 goals.
