GOLD Coast has delisted midfielder Jarryd Lyons and defender Jack Leslie.

After heading north from Adelaide at the end of the 2016 season, Lyons has played 37 of a possible 44 games for the Suns.

Coach Stuart Dew dropped him twice in 2018 though.

WHO'S LEAVING YOUR CLUB? All the latest retirements and delistings

Lyons averaged almost 25 disposals a game last season and was ranked equal-third in the AFL for clearances (7.3) and ninth for contested possessions (13.6).

He still had a season to run on his contract.

In a statement released on its website, Gold Coast said Lyons and the club "mutually agreed to part ways".

"We added real depth to our midfield during the trade period and as a result Jarryd understands that his opportunities would be increasingly limited due to the additions of these players and our desire to play and develop the young midfield talent already on our list," list and strategy manager Craig Cameron said.

"With that being the case, the club and Jarryd have had a mature discussion and agree that another club may offer him greater opportunity to play in the midfield in the future."

LYONS TO LIONS? Rivals set to pounce

Among the players Gold Coast brought in during trade period was Richmond inside midfielder Anthony Miles.

Although Leslie has been delisted, the Suns have committed to taking the key defender in November's rookie draft.
