IN-FORM Hawk Jaeger O'Meara remains in doubt for Sunday's clash with St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.

The star midfielder, enjoying arguably his best start to a season, hurt his hip last weekend against North Melbourne but played on after receiving some treatment.

He went on to amass 32 disposals (12 contested), 12 tackles and 10 clearances in a best-on-ground display.

O'Meara was one of the last players to come out for training on Thursday and completed some basic handball drills before sitting out the session.

Tom Mitchell, Tom Scully, Chad Wingard, Jarryd Roughead and Ben Stratton joined the 25-year-old for the drills.

Roughead (corked thigh) looks set to return after a training collision with Wingard resulted in him being a late out last week.

Dan Howe is also expected to be in contention for the senior side.

O'Meara went back inside about an hour after training started at Waverley Park, with the session lasting for another half an hour.

Hawthorn will train again on Saturday, presenting him with another chance to prove his fitness.

The Hawks are already without Liam Shiels and Shaun Burgoyne, who are as many as three weeks away with respective hamstring injuries.

Meanwhile, Grant Birchall (knee/calf), Darren Minchington (hamstring), Ryan Schoenmakers (Achilles) and draftee Mathew Walker (knee) are still in the rehabilitation group.

Schoenmakers returned in the VFL last weekend, but the rest remain sidelined.

Walker took shots at goal and was running the most and the hardest of the quartet.

Scully played the past fortnight in the AFL after spending a year out because of a serious ankle injury.

The former Demon and Giant ended the session with some one-on-one kicking with assistant coach Sam Mitchell that required him to regularly change direction.

Luke Breust, who kicked five goals against the Kangaroos on Sunday despite a buttocks injury, was unrestricted throughout the session.
