LACHIE Neale says he's playing some of the best footy of his career, but in a scary warning for opponents, believes he has room to improve.

Neale is averaging 33 disposals (16 of those contested) and eight clearances in his first 14 games for Brisbane to be right in the thick of All Australian selection.

The prolific midfielder had seven fantastic seasons at Fremantle that he "loved" and has continued to improve since his surprise move east in the off-season.

"I've developed as a player in a short amount of time and that's a credit to the players and coaching staff and everyone involved," Neale said.

"I've been still a little inconsistent within games this year, so there's another level I feel I can get to and hopefully over time I can reach that.

"It ranks as some of my best footy, but at the same time I've played some average games as well."

Neale is obviously a hard marker.

He is a solitary clearance behind North Melbourne powerhouse Ben Cunnington at the head of the league for that category, and trails only Cunnington, Nat Fyfe and Clayton Oliver for contested possessions.

Neale has had at least 24 disposals in every game.

"I still fumble every now and then," he said.

"My hands are my weapon, it's what I'm good at. At ‘Brissie’ you're encouraged every week to improve your weapon and get better at the things you're good at.

"I still work on that every week.

"Have I improved in the last month? Hopefully. I feel like even one percent helps.

"I'll keep working at it and keep cracking away."

Neale recently turned 26 and plays his 150th game on Sunday against Greater Western Sydney in a match that has top-four implications.

He described the Giants as "unbelievable … phenomenal" and a massive challenge that Brisbane was excited about.

"To be the best you've got to beat the best."
