FREMANTLE has promoted experienced recruiter David Walls to a new role of head of player personnel in a restructure of its list management division.

Walls has been a part of the Dockers' recruiting team since 2008 and led the club's scouting team for the past six years.

But he will take on a wider role in 2020 in heading Fremantle's list management, in a change that will see list manager Mark Micallef depart the club.

FULL FIXTURE Every round, every game

Micallef spent last season at the Dockers as its list manager having crossed from Gold Coast at the end of 2018, where he was a recruiter.

Dockers football manager Peter Bell said the club had focused on a change to its structure.

"Following the trade and draft periods we reviewed our structures and identified the need for a senior role to oversee both player acquisition and retention," Bell said.

Walls, who is the son of Carlton great Robert, will oversee the Dockers' list which brought in three top-10 picks at last year's NAB AFL Draft – Hayden Young (No.7), Caleb Serong (No.8) and Liam Henry (No.9).

"I love the club, I've been with them a long time and this role is a great opportunity," Walls said.

"There's a lot of great people and I really believe we are on the right track.

"There's been a bit of change both off-field and on-field and I feel the club is heading in the right direction toward success."
