GOLD Coast starts life in a new home for the next eight weeks on Monday.

With the Metricon Stadium precinct in final preparations for April's Commonwealth Games, the Suns have moved 10km to nearby Bond University.

The football department will be at the Gold Coast university until late April, while the rest of the club's administration is a separate facility close-by in Robina.

From a football standpoint, the Suns will lack for nothing.

The university has a first-class training field, a gym that's less than 12 months old, a 50m pool, and office space with a view of everything for the coaching staff.

With a lunch area and access to the law faculty's lecture room for meetings, the players will not have to leave the site.

Gold Coast starts its temporary new life on a high after disposing of Geelong in its JLT Community Series opener in Townsville on Sunday.

It was the perfect start for new coach Stuart Dew and a nice dress rehearsal for what lies ahead in the premiership season.

With the first 10 matches of their campaign away from home, the Suns will have to get used to travelling, and defeating the Cats after three days of community camp in north Queensland was a first-up tick.

Sean Lemmens will have scans on his injured hamstring on either Monday or Tuesday.
