The Port Adelaide Football Club advises that Daniel Bass will not be on its Rookie List in 2012.
Bass, 24, was selected by the Power in the 2010 Rookie Draft with a view to developing the former U.S. College basketballer into a ruckman.
Port Adelaide Football Operations Manager Peter Rohde said: “Daniel has applied himself extremely well over two years, but we have made the decision we will not be keeping him on the list in 2012.
“He played league football with South Adelaide in 2011, including two finals, and he is to be commended for the effort he has put into his development.
“But this is a difficult time of the year and we have made a decision that Daniel won’t be part of our plans going forward.”
The Port Adelaide Football Club thanks Daniel for his contribution and wishes him well with his future.
Port Adelaide also advises that it will not exercise its right under father-son arrangements to draft Thomas Schwarz, son of former Woodville-West Torrens captain Peter Schwarz.
Under AFL rules, the Power has an option to enter the father-son bidding process for players whose fathers tallied at least 200 games with Port Adelaide, Woodville-West Torrens, North Adelaide, West Adelaide or Central District.
Rohde said: “Thomas is a promising young talent and we certainly kept a close eye on him throughout 2011, but Port Adelaide will not pursue this option.
“We wish Thomas well with his future and hope that he gets his opportunity to play AFL football.”
