FREMANTLE forward Cam McCarthy has returned to training just two days after he collapsed and was rushed to hospital.

The 25-year-old completed the warm-up with teammates on Friday before running laps as the Dockers began match simulation.

McCarthy sent a major scare through the Dockers' camp on Wednesday when he suddenly fell to the ground during non-contact training.

By the time an ambulance arrived, was McCarthy was able to walk to the vehicle on his own volition.

He was released from hospital later that night before undergoing further tests on Thursday.

It is still not known what caused McCarthy's episode.

When quizzed by reporters outside hospital, McCarthy said he was still hopeful of joining teammates in the Gold Coast hub when they depart on Tuesday.

"Our doctor's recommendation was that Cam go to hospital and get checked out," Dockers coach Justin Longmuir said on Wednesday.

"At the moment our mind is on Cam's health and wellbeing. We'll work out what that means for the hub and what that looks like after we get the medical recommendations."
