The Melbourne Football Club is the oldest sporting club in the world and the founding club of the AFL. With over 30,000 members, the Club, competes in a 23 round plus finals competition and is based at Australia’s sporting icon, the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Club has gone through a period of significant change and has embarked on an exciting new journey to create a sustainable and ultimately successful sporting organisation.

We are seeking a Social Media and Marketing Co-ordinator to join our dynamic team based at the MCG.  Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for writing and co-ordinating editorial content for the Melbourne Football Club, primarily for our social media platforms but also for our websites, email communications and print publications as required and on special projects from time to time when needed.

This exciting role is ideal for a marketing, communication or PR professional with 1 -2 years experience in a social media or communication’s role with an interest in the sports industry.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Co-ordinate the Club’s Social Media presence
    • Write and manage editorial content across all social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
    • Daily monitoring of social media channels, responding to comments and enquiries and ensuring an outstanding customer service experience is provided
    • Assistance with planning and implementing social media campaigns and strategies
  • Assist with PR and media activities across all departments, largely focusing on community and consumer areas
  • Co-ordinate the Club’s email schedule and assist with email production
  • Develop and deliver a content plan to engage with children that encourages fan development and fan retention
  • Create content for the Club’s Kids Website deezone.com.au and the monthly Deezone email newsletter
  • Co-ordinate the administrative side of the Club’s Work Experience Program

Successful applicants will have:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in marketing, communications, journalism or similar
  • Experience writing savvy, engaging email and online content
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A passion and strong interest in the social media digital industry, and active engagement in new developments and advances
  • Results Orientation - focuses attention on key objectives, seeking effective outcomes
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, metrics and tracking
  • HTML and CSS coding skills preferred
  • A highly creative and innovative mindset with a strong work ethic
  • A proven record of being an active user of social media
  • Project management and organisation skills
  • Ability to build positive and collaborative relationships across the organization

Successful candidates will require a current Working with Children Check. There is also a requirement to assist on match days and other events as required by the Club, which include weekends.
