Collingwood and Nathan Brown have agreed to a three-year deal that will see the defender stay at the club until the end of 2016.

Speaking on Gillette Trade Radio, Collingwood’s national recruiting manager Derek Hine said Brown had all but signed on the dotted line.

“Nathan Brown’s agreed to a three year deal, we just haven’t released that,” he said.

Hine said “everything is ready to go” but the club could not finalise the deal until it had first dealt with the contracts of Dale Thomas and Heath Shaw.

Brown played 22 of 23 games for the Pies in 2013 and was a permanent fixture in the team’s defensive half.

Hine also knocked on the head any suggestions Dayne Beams – who is contracted until the end of 2015 – would not be at the club in 2014.
