Young midfielder Tom Curren,Tom Simpkin and Clint Jones sign new contracts
MIDFIELDER Tom Curren has been rewarded for his breakthrough 2013 season with a new two-year contract at St Kilda.
Tom Simpkin has also signed a new two-year deal, while veteran tagger Clint Jones has penned a one-year contract.
Curren has spent the past three seasons on the Saints' rookie list but was elevated to make his AFL debut in round 17 this year and went on to play every remaining game.
The 21-year-old came out of contract at the end of this season but AFL.com.au understands he has agreed to terms on a deal that will keep him in Saints colours to the end of 2015.
After playing as the Saints' substitute in his first two games, Curren averaged 21 possessions in the final five rounds of the home and away season, including 26 in the last round against Fremantle.
Curren was one of nine St Kilda debutants this year as the club moved to rebuild the ageing list that carried it to Grand Final appearances in 2009 and 2010.
The Saints selected Curren from the Dandenong Stingrays with pick 24 in the 2011 rookie draft.
He starred last year as a midfielder/small forward with St Kilda's VFL affiliate Sandringham, winning the Zebras' best and fairest.
