PORT Adelaide defender Jackson Trengove has been placed on the club's long-term injury list, with surgery on his injured foot expected to sideline him for 10 weeks.

As a result, Kane Mitchell has been re-elevated to the club's senior list.

Trengove had a screw inserted into his fractured foot on Monday afternoon and club high performance manager Darren Burgess said it would be more than a month before the 22-year-old would be able to run again.

"Jackson’s metatarsal fracture required surgical fixation with the insertion of a screw," Burgess said.

"He will recommence running in approximately six weeks and we expect his full rehabilitation program to take 10 weeks."

Mitchell made his AFL debut against Melbourne in round one and played in the Power's first three games of the season.

He looked at home at the elite level despite limited game time, proving the Power with speed and carry through the midfield and up forward.
