Port Adelaide confirmed he would play no further part in the game shortly after, but coach Ken Hinkley is not expecting it to be a severe injury.

"He's got a little history with hamstrings but they're only very minor normally with 'Xav'," Hinkley said following the match.

"I imagine we'll get a scan that says he's got a hamstring injury that's probably going to be three weeks."

The injury news was better for Fremantle with forward Sam Sturt's ankle injury appearing less of a worry than at first glance.

The round one Rising Star nominee missed the round two clash with a back injury and had just worked his way back into the team.

After attention from medical staff on a rolled ankle, Sturt returned to play in the final term before again succumbing to the injury.

"He (Sturt) rolled his ankle but it was a really good sign that he came back on," Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir said.

The forward will have scans tomorrow and the Dockers will weigh up whether they'll have to take the cautious road with Sturt's recovery with just a six-day break before Saturday's clash against Gold Coast.

Injury-riddled veteran Stephen Hill will be in line for selection this week after being pulled from the squad on Saturday.

Hill picked up a corkie in his calf during Saturday's training session but Longmuir is confident he will be ready for next week.
