Andy Otten hopes to train on Wednesday to prove his fitness for the opening round of the NAB Cup on Friday night.

Otten rolled an ankle during last Friday’s intra-club trial in his first game since his December 2009 knee reconstruction. He did not train with the group on Monday but considers himself a good chance to play.

Matthew Jaensch reported some groin soreness after Friday’s game but also is expected to train on Wednesday and Chris Knights (corked thigh) will also be on the track.

A handful of Crows are on modified programs and will not be up for selection this week. They include David Mackay and Sam Shaw, who should be ready to play at the end of this month, and Bernie Vince and Will Young, who should be ready to play later in the NAB Cup series.

The Crows are expected to use up to 35 players in the two games against Melbourne and Port Adelaide. The squads will be announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Adelaide’s training session is closed on Wednesday but the squad has a light run on Thursday from 9.30am.
