ESSENDON captain Matthew Lloyd has been offered a four-match suspension for his bump on Hawk midfielder Brad Sewell.

If he accepts the penalty, Lloyd will miss Essendon’s entire finals campaign starting this Friday night against Adelaide.

Lloyd was charged with a level five engaging in rough conduct offence.

His previous poor record means that he can accept a four-match sanction with an early plea. If Lloyd takes his case to the tribunal and loses, he risks a six-game ban.

Lloyd’s teammates Patrick Ryder and Sam Longergan have been offered one-match suspensions for striking while Jarrod Atkinson’s match day report was thrown out.

Both were cited for striking Hawk Luke Hodge.

Hawthorn’s Chance Bateman was charged with a level three striking offence against Lloyd and was offered a one-game ban with an early plea.

Ten players were charged with engaging in the melee that followed Lloyd’s hit on Sewell. Hawks Hodge, Michael Osborne, Brent Renouf, Grant Birchall and Campbell Brown were all offered $1200 sanctions with an early plea. Essendon’s Ryder, Nathan Lovett-Murray, Adam McPhee, Michael Hurley and Dustin Fletcher were all offered the same penalty.

North Melbourne’s Drew Petrie and Port Adelaide’s Troy Chaplin look set to have delayed starts to their 2010 campaigns. Petrie was offered a two-match ban for striking Port Adelaide’s Alipate Carlile. Petrie’s poor record means his sentence cannot be reduced with an early plea.

Chaplin was offered a one-match ban for striking North Melbourne’s Andrew Swallow.

Fremantle’s Matthew De Boer was charged with striking Geelong’s Mark Blake but can escape with 93.75 demerit points and a reprimand.

Richmond’s Jack Riewoldt, West Coast’s Andrew Embley, Melbourne’s Nathan Jones and Carlton’s Shaun Hampson were all charged with making negligent contact with umpires. It is Jones’ second such offence, meaning he has been offered a $2850 fine. The other three have been offered $1950 sanctions.

Port Adelaide’s Kane Cornes has been offered a $900 fine for using abusive language towards an umpire.
