Still to play a game for the Kangaroos in 2011, Pratt fought out another convincing display in the North Ballarat back-line during its 56 point loss to Casey Scorpions on Saturday.
"Pratt had 20 possessions and nine one percenters while staging a great duel with Matthew Bate after quarter time," North Melbourne Development coach Jason Lappin told kangaroos.com.au on Tuesday.
The 28-year old managed 13 games last season including a season high 27 possession match against Port Adelaide in round 13.
While Pratt was a stand-out, Lappin believes all the Kangaroos' North Ballarat aligned players can hold their heads high despite the disappointing loss.
"All of the North players acquitted themselves well," Lappin said.
"Most of the damage was done in the second quarter with the Scorpions outscoring us 6.6 to 2.2."
Rookie Luke Delaney did his chances of a future promotion onto the senior list no harm with a super performance on Melbourne youngster Lucas Cook.
"Luke was typically impressive in defence and played largely on Cook where he was able to limit him to just one goal. Luke and Daniel (Pratt) both provided plenty of rebound with 15 and 20 possessions respectively.
"Luke and Daniel have been really impressive in the first two games of the season and have both given themselves every chance of getting into the senior team."
Luke's younger brother Cam was also serviceable as he develops as a key position player.
"Cam had a huge task after quarter-time of trying to curb the influence of giant winger James Wall who had amassed eleven touches. He performed extremely well in the second and third quarters in particular winning seven possessions to Wall's five. It was great for Cam to play in a different role to his usual defensive post and he showed some real versatility."
Meanwhile highly rated forward Aaron Black made his return to football in the reserves after recovering from groin trouble last year and in the pre-season.
"It was great to see Aaron running around again on game-day," Lappin said.
"He was moving really well and freely which was the most pleasing thing. Aaron will be a key forward for us, but we played him on the wing in this game just to get him around the footy as much as possible.
"He played the first half and showed enough to suggest that he will be a fine contributor for the Roosters this season. With Aaron we are playing it very conservatively as he has hardly played any footy in the last twelve months. We just want to get his body right as we know that when he is fit, he has some terrific athletic qualities."
