AFTER spending three years in the AFL wilderness, missing one game isn't the end of the world for Port Adelaide forward Nathan Krakouer.

The 28-year-old is suspended for the Power's round one clash against Sydney at the SCG on Saturday, March 25.

He will be available to return for the following week's game against Fremantle at Adelaide Oval.

Krakouer accepted a rough conduct charge for his hit on St Kilda's Sean Dempster in the club's first game of the JLT Community Series.

"It's a bit disappointing, but it is what it is," Krakouer said.

"I'll miss round one, and then hopefully round two I might be up for selection.

"If not, I'll be playing in the SANFL, we'll just see how it goes.

"I'm not going to hold anyone back, I'm just going to try and help the boys along the way.

"Hopefully the team goes out on the weekend and gets the win."

Krakouer is an important player for Power with his speed, excellent foot skills and creativity.

Having played the majority of his career as a defender, he has relished the move to attack during the pre-season.

Krakouer started his career with Port Adelaide from 2007-10, then had a year with Gold Coast in 2011 before off-field issues forced him out of the game.

He returned to the Power's rookie list in 2015 and was upgraded to the senior list at the end of last year.

"To get a second chance, I'm loving it," Krakouer said.

"I'm thankful that the club gave me the opportunity and I'm trying to make the most of it.

"I take it week by week. The aim was to have a good pre-season that I've had, and now we'll see how the season goes."

Krakouer has designed the Power's indigenous guernsey the team will wear in its round 10 and round 11 games against Geelong and Hawthorn respectively.

The design includes nine handprints to signify the club's nine indigenous players and has the year 1967 printed on it, to signify the 50 years since referendum that gave indigenous people voting rights.

"I'm very honoured to be asked to do this year's Aboriginal guernsey," Krakouer said.

"I had a bit of help from Andrew Taylor with the design.

"I'm very proud and can't wait to wear it."
