FOOTBALL is over for the season. The grand final has been run and won by the Hawks, the Cats have slunk off home around the bay, and the footy has been packed away in the cupboard.

Right? Wrong.

The 2008 NAB AFL Draft Camp begins on Wednesday (October 1) at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra and finishes on Friday.

The camp has become an integral part of the final assessment of players who are being considered for the NAB AFL Draft, which will be held on Saturday, November 29.

In 2007, clubs drafted 48 players from the camp onto their main lists, and a further 13 players were rookie listed.

Apart from the 75 players attending this year’s Draft Camp, another  123 players will be tested in early October at half-day screening camps being held in various capital cities.

The players will be put through a variety of tests, including:

* Fitness Assessment  (Height/weight, skin folds, arm length, hand span)
* Psychomotor Tests   (Reaction time, decision making, peripheral awareness)
* Sprint, agility, vertical jump testing
* Shuttle Run (the infamous beep test)
* 3km Time-trail
* General skills test
