WEST Coast defender Shannon Hurn is proving to be a weapon at both ends of the ground, and he underlined his value early in the second term against Port Adelaide.

When Dean Cox marked 70m from goal at Patersons Stadium, Hurn, the tough half-back with the deadly right boot, saw an opportunity to pounce.

He received the handball from Cox inside the centre square and took half a dozen steps before converting from 60m on the run.

The brilliant passage of play left West Coast 23 points clear in front.
