NATIONAL media will descend on the Alice Springs court house on Monday as former Melbourne player Liam Jurrah faces trial.??

It’s just over a year since an alleged alcohol-fuelled brawl at the Little Sisters Town Camp on the outskirts of Alice Springs where Jurrah was arrested.?

The 24-year-old is charged with unlawfully causing serious harm.

AFL.com.au understands the Jurrah camp is confident in his case and he is expected to maintain his not guilty plea.

The Northern Territory Supreme Court trial has been slated to run five days before Chief Justice Trevor Riley.

Jurrah is being represented by a legal team lead by Darwin based lawyer Jon Tippett QC.

Up to 19 witnesses are expected to be called to give evidence.

The case has drawn incredible interest from news outlets across Australia with no less that 12 local and national media organisations requesting access to the courtroom to cover the trial.

Jurrah’s football career is currently on hold. He was de-listed by Melbourne after leaving Victoria to live with relatives in South Australia.

He played 36 games and kicked 81 goals over four seasons on the Demons list.

Jurrah trained with Port Adelaide in the off-season, and while that club opted against adding him to its senior list, he has so far not taken up an offer to join its SANFL squad.
